Worry.
February 9, 2008 on 9:01 am | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentI had a dream today but I can’t remember what it was about(do you get that too sometimes?). It’s left me with a very worried feeling. Ah yes. I remember.
I was in a meeting with my team(there were like 35 people or so) and I was explaining to them the future of the company. The worries. The problems. The way to move forward. Then some people started telling me how they depended on their salaries for a living. Some started to get really worried. And just before I got to the optimistic part of the meeting, I lost my voice. By the time, I got around to drinking some water and have it come back, the meeting was off and every had left.
It was just me and some other guy left. He came up to me and said something like, “You’re very prepared. But you’re a bad businessman. You don’t talk to people about the hearty issues.”
I was taken aback because I thought that was precisely what I was talking about and have been focusing on for so long. But of course, sometimes others can see more clearly our flaws than we can ourselves so I let it stick.
I could see the worry and the disappointment in his eyes. Suddenly I said to him, “If you’re going to remove me from the board, tell it to me straight up.”
His reply was short, sharp, extremely honest,
“Of course.”
Stories & Happy Endings
February 3, 2008 on 12:35 am | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentI realised something a few moments ago.
Too many stories and shows and movies and books and plays and dramas and musicals have happy endings.
They give people false hope.
They give me false hope.
Are you a complain King/Queen? Join the Complaints Choir Project.
January 15, 2008 on 6:40 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentI remember seeing a video of the Helsinki Complaints Choir some time back. It was really good…entertaining too! I was wondering if Singapore would have one too..and well, it’s becoming reality.
As of the Singapore M1 Fringe Festival, the choir will be putting some performances. Apparently this Singaporean version of the choir has attracted over 60 participants.
Now…I can’t wait to catch em. Outing anyone?
Workshops for the Complaints Choir Project are already underway and will last until 25 January. Live performances will take place on 25 and 26 January at various locations such as People’s corner, the Esplanade Waterfront, the Arts House Chamber and vivo city.

Of the Library@Orchard Closing video & A Talented Composer
November 30, 2007 on 7:43 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentLast week, I was involved in helping Jean in the music video that she was making for the closure of the orchard library.
Several hours ago, the video finally went public. Jean did such a wonderful job! Not only was the stitching so well done, she picked a song that was perfect for the occasion.
I just have to give the composer of that song, “Lenniez“, my thumbs up! Do check her out over at youtube! She just got herself one more fan. =)
Judge Jails Entire Courtroom
November 28, 2007 on 11:32 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Judge completely lost it after no one wanted to own up for a ringing mobile phone.
A US judge has been removed from the bench after jailing 46 people when a mobile phone began ringing during his court session and no one would own up.
The entire courtroom was sent to the cells during a domestic violence hearing when the judge, Robert Restaino, 48, "snapped" and - according to a review of his actions - "engaged in what can only be described as two hours of inexplicable madness".

Human Judgment
November 19, 2007 on 4:05 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments"Human judgment may fail. You may act very wisely, you think, but it may turn out a great failure. On the other hand, one may do a foolish thing which may turn out well. I hace seen many things happen, but the fact remains that human life is presented to us as simple choice between right and wrong. If you obey that law you will find that that way is far safer in the long run than all calculations which can ever be made. I want to say this to you because that is something my experience has taught me. But I certainly do not want you to understand me to say that I have always done the right thing — I should be ashamed to say that. But I do have the feeling that one must act in accordance with what one feels and believes." — Winston Churchill, Norway, 1948
