Finding What Makes Him Tick

One entry ago, I wrote about how I was frustrated with my lab partner. I’m not sure how things will be but considering it’s the first day that i’m working with again after the weekend, i’m glad to say that he’s picking up his slack.
Perhaps it was too premature for me to get so emotional but being tired and frustrated does that to a person doesn’t it?
I learnt a good lesson. There is always a way to work with people. It’s always a matter of finding out what makes the person tick.
For one, I was thinking slugging it out with him actually - to see who was more afraid of a failed module. You see, i can afford to fail. My grades don’t really matter…but his does. Alas, in that terrible mindset, I realised that it might have been the right sort of pressure to be exacting. You see, today he appeared very much prepared with his part of the work.
I’m just thinking that this is definitely not the right way of motivating people…but really, is there a better way?
There must be.
…A good leader is one who is able to make the unmotivated do, with great passion, what they otherwise would not do on their own…
