Johor to deploy another 400 police officers…

June 20, 2007 on 6:49 pm | In Personal Rants | 2 Comments

It’s about time. But I still have my doubts.

I admit, i’m generally biased against JB. This perception that the crime is so high causes me to have a general sense of wariness when I go to any part of Malaysia. I like going to malaysia because it’s got more stuff to see and it’s cheaper too. But I can’t help despising the feeling that i’m like a cow in some tiger’s playpen with everyone being a possible thief/robber/rapist/murderer. The lack of sense of security just kills everything.

If some powerful malaysian sees this, I suggest you do something about those crime rates. Go learn from NYC. Clamp down on crime…and get your officers off them lazy, fearful asses.

…yes, i’m biased. But you can’t blame someone whose brother’s friend, family friend, 2 uncles and father have all been robbed or physically threatened before. In a recent trip that my parents took with the parents of my childhood friend, they even had to consider whose car to drive because there was a fear that the more classy one might actually get stolen.

How to attract people to go to your country to shop?

Now I when i go there…I just wish I was armed.

Gee…my afternoon post has turned into an evening post. Oh well…Everything’s been going pretty well so far. Managed to get much of my affairs in order as well as get that article up. Now I guess comes the hardest part of all - to actually keep repeating this process everyday.

From here on, i’m going to have dinner with my family. Tonight, i’m so planning to crash.

I so look like one of those Hongkong backstreet boys youtubers….so malu-ating…

….Suddenly i feel like Steven Lim. Eeeeeks!

Morning Madness

June 20, 2007 on 7:44 am | In Productivity | 1 Comment

Short of going for a run, i’m up on time, which is a good thing. I realise I have absolutely no shorts which I can wear making it impossible to go for a run.  So yeah.

Today’s relative a non-hectic day except for me having to clear all the emails and some work that’s been clogged up for the past fortnight or so.

If there’s one thing I hope to do for the morning, it’s to be draft out an article for xsmatter. I already have one which i’ll be putting up later…but i’ll still need more. So yeah…1 more by lunch. In addition to all the other stuff of course.

P.S. In trying to play around with my video and audio editors. I did a lipdub of Code Monkey which i’ll put up(and make a complete fool out of myself).

Daily Lesson: Family

June 20, 2007 on 1:48 am | In Daily Lesson | 2 Comments

I’ve decided that perhaps its good for me to structure a forced way of making the best out of each day. I live too much on short timelines and milestones that I sometimes forget what really matters - to learn and to maximise each day not just in terms of tangible issues but also in the more ‘hearty’ issues.

So here, i’m going to go for a slight shift in how I run my days. I’m aiming to do the following:

1. sleep at 2am each day and wake up at 6.30am.
2. Go for a short run each morning
3. read the papers/watch news/read newsfeeds while having breakfast.
4. Morning blog entry.
5. Map goals of the day
6. Live the morning(means start work)
7. Mid-Day Entry cum lunch
8. Live the rest of the day.
9. Daily Lesson at the end of the day.

I’ll probably deviate here and there…but that’s the rough skeleton of the day which i’m going to try to live by..at least for weekdays that is.

I spent much of the day just trying to get back the momentum for doing work. It’s been a terribly slow week so far with Monday completely spent with me just losing myself in the ‘nice-ness’ of the weekend that just past. It was truly a magnificent weekend filled with such a warm feeling that i haven’t had for such a long time. After trying desperately to get work done, I realised that it was getting late and so left to go to Geek Terminal for a short break before I’d head over to the National Library to catch Kevin’s talk. But I guess the highlight of the day was the supper. After weeks of being so busy, it was nice just having supper with the family. Although my youngest brother was stuck at home because it was past his probation time, it reminded how at the end of the day it’s really family that’s your pillar of strength. Friends come and go, business rise and fall, girlfriends kiss and leave, but family…they stay throughout. They see you cope with losing your friends. They see you struggle with hitting brick walls while chasing your dreams. Sometimes they get angry with you. Sometimes they hurt you. But they never leave.

Family Rocks. Remember that.
